Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships are available through the departments for full-time degree students, primarily doctoral candidates. In addition, assistantships are awarded by TEI.

The Department of Library and Information Studies offers four GA positions: Technology Lab assistant, office assistant, faculty research assistant, and web developer. GA's are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week and are selected based on: 1) possession of special skills needed for the GA assignment, 2) financial need, 3) previous academic record. Stipends average $8,000. Assistants are required to register for a minimum of 9 credit hours until they are advanced to candidacy. If you would like to be considered for an assistantship, address your request to the department chair when you apply for admission. Refer to application for deadline dates.

Tuition scholarships are separate awards granted by GSE to graduate and teaching assistants. Award recipients must file a Tuition Scholarship Verification Form annually. Tuition scholarships do not cover any university fees.

In order to qualify, New York State residents must apply for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).
