INFORMATION FOR NYS teachers holding provisional certification:

What certification (title) is granted?

This is the same as the area of provisional certification for each individual.

Does this degree enable graduates to obtain permanent certification?

The degree satisfies one step in the process of obtaining permanent certification. The two steps are:

1. Obtaining two years teaching experience.
2. Passing two exams, the CST (Content Specialist Test) and the ATSP (the Assessment of Teaching Skills/Performance).

What will this certification enable or prohibit recipients from teaching?

This, also, is the same area as the area of provisional certification for each individual.

Is the design for K-8 teachers only or 9-12 as well?

The certification levels are K-6 and 7-12. The General Education Masters covers both.

Are there any assistantships or fellowships available for this program?

Not at this time.

Can I receive financial aid or student loans to cover my tuition costs?
