General Education via Distance Learning
Program Information
This 33-credit degree program enables students to earn their Master's degree within their local community. Over the course of two years, students will complete two courses per semester as well as a required, final "master" project. All courses in this program are offered completely online via the University's course management program, UBlearns. UBlearns allows students to access their coursework and collaborate with their fellow classmates and instructor(s) online.

A. I am interested in earning a degree in education and DO NOT need teaching certification
If you are interested in the field of education, would like to earn a Master of Education degree, and DO NOT need teaching certification, please apply now.
B. I am interested in earning teaching certification and live outside of New York State
This degree is designed for those interested in learning more about the field of education. You do not have to be a teacher to enroll in this program. If you are interested in earning teacher certification with this degree program, please check with your local state certification officer. You will need to present your certification officer with a complete listing of our program requirements.
C. I am a New York State teacher interested in earning teaching certification and hold provisional teaching certification earned prior to February 1, 2004
If you are currently provisionally certified to teach in New York State, received your provisional certification prior to February 2004 and have verified with the state education department that this degree will lead to permanent teaching certification in New York State, please apply now.
D. I am interested in earning teaching certification and hold (or will soon hold) initial teacher certification in New York State
If you are initially certified to teach (or will be in the near future), this program is not appropriate for you. We encourage you to apply for one of our on campus degree programs. This program will NOT provide you with professional teacher certification in New York state under any circumstances.
