Please note this schedule and sequence of courses are tentative and may be subject to change due to faculty time availability.
1 These courses include practice role-plays and activities that promote self-disclosure and self-awareness. Students will not be graded on their self-disclosure, self- awareness, and personal growth. As a counselor in training, it is strongly recommended that each student engage in additional activities that promote self-awareness.
2 Field Work and Practicum require students to spend a minimum of one and a half days per week in the school.
3 These courses will be taught online by UB Faculty and will require viewing video-casts of instructor's lectures online, online interactive class discussion, and assignment throughout the time-frame of the course.
Comprehensive Examination
All students will be required to take and pass a comprehensive examination at the end of their program. Comprehensive exams will be scheduled for November 14, 2009.
Portfolio Development
All students are required to successfully develop and submit a portfolio by October 30, 2009 before they can be awarded the master's degree.
Application to Candidacy
All students who successfully complete all degree requirements can have their degree conferred by February 1, 2010. Students need to submit their application to candidacy to the Department by Sept 1, 2009. The form can be downloaded at:

Selective Retention
The Program in School Counseling reserves the right to terminate any student on the basis of intellective and/or non-intellective performance if such performance is deemed deficient by the faculty on careful and prolonged deliberation of available evidence. ACA and ASCA and SAC Ethical Standards will be used as the standard of acceptable ethical and professional behavior.
