Mentoring

The purpose of the Mentoring Certificate is to provide substance and guided practice for peer supervision models and mentoring programs in public schools and to enable experienced teachers to structure their guidance of new teachers.

An Advanced Certificate in Mentoring will provide experienced teachers with:

  • The opportunity to examine and support their teaching and provide instructional assistance to newly hired teachers and those individuals re-entering the teaching field;
  • A venue to reflect on teaching within the framework of continuous, guided professional development;
  • A coherent, comprehensive program of post-Master’s, professional development coursework.
  • A collaborative perspective for research towards improving teacher education and development.

Eligibility

The Mentoring certificate is a post Masters degree certificate, designed for:

  • Experienced teachers (more than 3 years of teaching)
  • Pre-K-12 Administrators
  • GSE doctoral students with permanent or professional certification or serving in roles as teacher mentors
