Abstract:
ConcepTests were first developed as a method of improving conceptual understanding and scores on concept examinations in physics. This has been repeated in many of the other sciences as well as mathematics and statistics. They are very useful for classrooms where voting is used.

For the past six years, the University of Arizona has been a part of the development of ConcepTests for Single and Multi-variable Calculus, Precalculus, and now, College Algebra. The instruments used either multiple choice or True/False questions designed to promote the discussion and learning of mathematical concepts and are NOT used for individual assessment. However, they are useful in helping the instructor assess the understanding of a concept by the entire class. They can be used with or without technology.

This presentation with focus on different ways of using ConcepTests in the classroom, with or without computer technology, as well as some results comparing their use with standard lectures.
