Culminating Project Ideas
Because
each of us brings different professional experiences and perspectives to
this course, it is important that you have options for demonstrating what
you have learned as you complete your culminating project. Here are some
ideas for your consideration.
-
Keep a Learning Journal, which includes a weekly log of you activities
related to this course. In this journal, you will identify the readings
for the week, briefly summarize them, and offer your interpretations and
reflections. You also will include comments about the lab and any frustrations
and “a-ha” moments you experience. Further, you will bring in outside readings
of your own choice to support your interpretations and reflections.
-
Design a staff development proposal for technology integration for
your professional colleagues in your district/building/department. This
program will include literature that supports your design, an outline of
the proposed activities and schedules, how you will identify participants’
existing level of knowledge, how you will track progress, and how you will
assess/evaluate the program’s success.
-
Create a technology-infused learning experience (unit of study)
that you can use with your students. If you currently are teaching in K-12
education, you will include the NYS Learning Standards being addressed
by the learning experience, as well as how you will assess student performance.
For an example of learning experiences, access Erie 1 BOCES' CSLO (Common
Set of Learning Objectives) site at http://www.wnyric.org/learn/cslo/
-
Design a survey/assessment tool to identify your faculty’s comfort
with technology use in their instruction. Include a proposed set of activities
which would assist staff to incorporate technology in their instruction.
A short review of the literature to support your analysis will be necessary.
-
Write a scholarly paper that deals with some aspect of technology
and instruction, including a review of the literature and your analysis.
-
Create a manual for teaching your colleagues or students your
favorite software application. This manual will address both content area(s)
and the technology skills necessary to be self-sufficient.
-
Create a web page to be used in your instruction.

the instructor in advance – preferably, by March 1st.
