Learning Structure and Curriculum
The complete range of the curriculum is reflected in the planned educational environment of the Center. Equipped Interest Centers,with many materials donated by Fisher-Price Company, are designed to promote optimal learning both individually or in group activities.
Centers of Interest include:
- Manipulative Play-games involving reading, mathematics, classifying, and problem solving.
- Puzzles and Table Games: logical thought, spatial relations, patterns, sequences, and discriminations.
- Blocks and Vehicles-physical and mathematical concepts and creativity.
- Socio-dramatic play-understanding personal-social relationships, self-expression, and communication.
- Occupation, Dolls, and Puppets: experiencing different roles.
- Art activities-multi-media self-expression, creativity, and seasonal projects with artwork. Emphasis on the process rather than the final product.
- Psychomotor Activity-physical development, self-control, and interpersonal communication both indoor and outdoor play.
- Divergent Activities: sand, water, play-dough, sensory and small motor coordination, measurement, and shapes.
- Science-concepts in biology, chemistry, and cooking.
- Computer-a medium to supplement areas of knowledge.
- Reading-experiencing how enjoyable books are by being read to individually and/or in small groups.
- Writing-stimulating children to become excited about written communication.
- Music-a medium for communication and self expression.
